West Friar Tuck Lane
Having grown up in a house overlooking a bayou with dense vegetation, the homeowner wished to create a similar place for his family. The house is situated to take full advantage of all aspects of the site. Sunlight moves through the clerestory along a central axis to enliven the core while a spacious screened porch serves as a retaining wall along the tributary of the bayou, allowing one to perch in the trees overlooking the dense vegetation and water. A large, casual, family house, the design provides sensitive proportions and spaces that offer comfort whether one is home alone or entertaining a large group.
