This 1927 bungalow in Houston’s Southampton neighborhood suffered from an unsympathetic 1970’s expansion and remodel. The vision of the new owners and GSMA was to recapture the intimacy of the original bungalow and to evoke the spirit of a Tudor cottage. The 2013 renovation refines the 1970’s enlarged gable and attic vent with a half timber pattern that tames the scale and brings geometric order to the façade. The interior was transformed by modifying proportions and circulations, along with beautifully crafted details reminiscent of 1920’s bungalows.
