Old Braeswood
Originally designed by architect Carl Murvey in 1929, this Tudor Revival house remains today as a relic from the City Beautiful era, which prized the concept of neighborhood as garden. Recognizing the potential in the house, it’s estate-like siting, gracious rooms and time burnished woodwork, the new owners partnered with GSMA to breathe new life into this significant building. By beginning the design process with questions about daily living and considering the constraints and opportunities of the historic structure, the GSMA team elegantly refined existing bedrooms and bathrooms, creatively reworked utility spaces, and seamlessly added a new kitchen and breakfast room for the owners’ growing family.
